The ‘Garage-Mahal’

A second stage project for our Woodworkers Cottage was the loft garage aka ‘The Woodworks Barn’. Designed to be in harmony with the original dwelling, this part granny flat part tint house on the Central Coast of NSW was designed as a multi light-filled space, featuring custom made Tasmanian Oak barn doors and American Oak staircase.

Designed by Fabric Architecture and built by Hudson Lane Projects is more than just a garage and has been coined ‘Garage-mahal’

Our vision for a ‘parents retreat’ in our backyard came to life with the help of Fabric Architecture and Hudson Lane Projects. More than just a garage the pitched barn-style roof was a winning design feature and allowed us to create a versatile space including a loft. The real heroes are the solid American Oak barn doors and staircase as well as the unique awning and external timber features.
